Going to the World Championships!!

Canada has qualified for the 2014 FIBA World Championships for Women!!

In a tightly contested semifinal match in Xalapa, Mexico, tonight against Puerto Rico, Canada remained focused on their game plan and took care of business by beating the upstart Puerto Ricans 73-48.

The team built an 18 point lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back.

Kim Smith led all scorers with 14 points while Natalie Achonwa contributed 11 points.

Miranda started the game again and played 17 minutes. She scored 4 points, pulled down 4 rebounds and blocked 2 shots.

With the win, Canada not only advance to Turkey 2014 next year, but will also play in the gold medal match of the tournament tomorrow evening against Cuba who upset Brazil in the other semifinal matchup.

This will be the first time Canada has played in the gold medal match in this tournament since winning it all in 1995.

The gold medal game will be held at 8pm local time tomorrow.
